A few weeks ago Luca’s client gave him a coupon for a wine tasting in different parts of Italy. A lovely present for us wine lovers! Even though we could have gone anywhere we choose to visit this small winery FONTECHIARA in our own town Borgomanero.
Mr. Ferrari has turned his hobby into work after retirement. Together with his wife he shares his passion for wine and runs this small business. The vineyards are located outside Borgomanero in Bogogno. When they found a water source or fonte in the middle of the vineyards they also found the name of their winery: Fontechiara. Together with 3 other couples we visited the small wine cellar where Mr. Ferrari explained us the process from the grapes to the wine in bottle. After the visit we obviously tasted their 2 wines: Colline Novaresi Vespolina and Colline Novaresi Nebbiolo. In a warm setting by the fireplace we feasted on the wines together with different sorts of cheese (toma, grana, gorgonzola), salumi (horse and donkey which I didn’t eat by the way), walnuts and 2 sorts of honey. A wonderful morning and a recommendation for those who planned a visit to Borgomanero or surroundings (Lake Maggiore or Lake d’Orta)!!
