Some time ago I posted about the Toce Falls and the closeby Morasco Dike & Lake. A beautiful place in the mountains of Piemonte, close to the swiss border! From the Morasco Dike and Lake there are plenty of well-marked walking trails. To celebrate Ferragosto this year (the 15th of August), Luca and I went on a mountain walk in this area. We’ve chosen to do the 2,5 hour walk all the way up to Lago dei Sabbioni at 2504 meters above sea level. This means we climbed 700 meters which gave us obviously some spectacular views. But the very best was the Lake Sabbioni, a real treat after 2,5 hours of walking. We started our walk at 8am when it was pretty cold, only 11° C, but fortunately along the way it became a sunny day after all. I would therefore recommend to start early in the morning because the climb up is not doable when it’s too hot. I will just take you with me on this lovely mountain walk via my photo’s…

Wow, we saw several marmots:
We’re getting higher and higher:
Our treat after a beautiful walk:
Tips:
- I wouldn’t recommend this walk for young children, because some parts are quite steep.
- Put on some good walking shoes! And don’t forget a sweater; even on a sunny day it can be cold especially in the morning.
- You can lunch close to Lake Sabbioni in the Rifugio C. Mores (you can’t miss it!!).

I would love to do this hike…stunning!!!!
